Deadhouse Exclusive: Early Details On Shock Stock 2016 & The Film Festival

For those who have known me for some time, many will know of my love of a little horror con in my hometown that started in 2011 called Shock Stock. Put together by two of the greatest scumbags (it’s a term of endearment) on the face of the Earth, Shock Stock had a bit of a rocky start with low attendance the first year. Not to be deterred, the two figureheads of the event, and two guys I am proud to call friends, Jake Grimbro and James Bialkowski, soldiered on and now Shock Stock is considered one of the greatest horror cons in all of Canada, and certainly the greasiest! I am privileged to be able to release some information about the forthcoming 2016 edition, as well as details on how you can submit your films for consideration for the Shock Stock Film Festival!

First let’s talk about the film fest. Given that this is Shock Stock (and really, if you haven’t experienced it you really need to!) the film festival has no restrictions, so you can get as bloody or dirty as you like. As well, films of any length are being accepted, whether it be 10 minutes or 110 minutes, so if you have something you want to get out there, make sure you absolutely submit something.

Speaking with Jake regarding the film fest, he said “It’s not just a short film fest we’re accepting features as well and will definitely be including some gala screenings. We’ll be unveiling our “crystal shocker” awards soon and there will be prizes involved to winning films and shorts.”

You can go to the Shock Stock Film Freeway page to review all of the details and make your submission. And be sure to check out the Shock Stock Facebook page for even more details! Exploitation and horror is the name of the game fiends and ghouls!

Now, let’s talk a little bit about the event itself! The 2016 edition of Shock Stock will be the 6th iteration, and as always, Jake and James are looking to up the ante once again. Check out this list of confirmed guests so far:

Dyanne Thorne (Ilsa: She Wolf Of The SS, Ilsa The Wicked Warden)
Howard Maurer (Ilsa The Wicked Warden, Ilsa: The Tigress Of Siberia)
Kenny Hotz (Kenny Vs. Spenny, Zack & Miri Make A Porno)
Lloyd Kaufman (The Toxic Avenger, Poultrygeist: Night Of The Chicken Dead)
Danny Hicks (Evil Dead 2: Dead By Dawn, Darkman)
A. Michael Baldwin (Phantasm, Phantasm IV: Oblivion)

And just announced as of yesterday for all of us horrorpunks, Shock Stock 2016 will be graced with the presence of Doyle Wolfgang Von Frankenstein of The Misfits and Doyle! So far it is shaping up to be a great lineup, and as both Dyanne Thorne and Howard Maurer were actually guests at the first Shock Stock, I can assure you that they are absolutely incredible people who truly appreciate and love their fans!

The webpage for Shock Stock 2016 will be launching tomorrow, December 15th, 2015. Jake said that “tickets going on sale and fingers crossed another guest or two to add to the lineup.”

I was also able to get a few details on some changes that are coming with the 2016 edition, and he was willing to reveal “The addition of a photo op bed and VIP recliner seating for scumbag screenings are also new additions to the show, and the Sin Labs are working on a cool “42nd Street Lounge” with some cool stuff to do all weekend long.”

So there you have it, just a taste of what’s to come with the 2016 edition of Canada’s best horror con! Shock Stock 2016 will be held on May 27-29th here in London, Ontario! Be sure to head over to the Official Shock Stock Website to get all of the details and your tickets when it is relaunched tomorrow!
