DeadTube: Mike Trebilcock Spawns A Lycanimator!

Sematary Spawn

Music For Maniacs EP Vol. 1

You may recall a while back when we published our Stereo Terror review of the first album from Sematary Spawn, Music For Maniacs EP Vol. 1. The first song on that album was “Lycanimator”, the theme for a film of the same name. It was one of the strongest tracks on the EP, and the man behind Sematary Spawn, Mike Trebilcock also put together a great lyric video for the song, using scenes from the film. I reached out to Mike to get some thoughts on the video…

Lycanimator is from a film by Seb Godin of the same name. He had a trailer which I cannibalized for the video – with his permission of course. (I did the same with Exorcism of The Dead actually!) Seb gave me some examples of music that he liked – Alice Cooper, Lordi etc. – and he gave me a rundown of the plot. I loved the colour and energy of it, and was trying to match it. The “Slime! Wolf! Monster! Slime!” chorus was a bit tongue-in-cheek in it’s bluntness, but also as in-your-face as an full-on unapologetic monster flick. I’ve since done more songs for his films, Slimoids and Ouija Mummy.

You can’t really go wrong when you get a great horror-based song thrown together with some great low-budget horror flick scenes, so check out the video below, and be sure to grab yourself a copy of Music For Maniacs EP Vol. 1 at the Official Sematary Spawn Bandcamp page!
