Creeping out of the Batcave, Rock N’ Roll Lobotomy by The Brainiax might be running away with Psychobilly album of the year! From the opening riff through to the last chord ring out this album had me HOOKED from start to finish with its clicky upright bass and surf-inspired riffage.
Out of the swamps of Minneapolis, Minnesota comes Teenage Exorcist! Consisting of Matt Sprinkles (Guitar/vocals), Chris Wilson (Drums), Adam Boatright (Upright bass/vocals), and Matt Kalsnes (Guitar), these gents have released a brand spankin’ new EP titled Year of the Witch which is sure to make their psychobilly compatriots both very proud… and envious! There is a ton of musical talent and creative writing in this 5-track banger.
Up next in Psycho Billy’s Slaughterhouse: Boring by The Vankeys! The Vankeys hail from Townsville, Queenland, Australia and are made up with Michael Hegarty (guitar/vocals), Dean Gilboy (drums/vocals) and Shaun Butcher (double bass/vocals). Boring is their 15-track debut album which can be found on The Vankeys Bandcamp. Well let’s dig right in!
The Devil’s Sons are a psychobilly band out of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. They are fronted by Brad Graves on guitar/vocals with Fernando De Los Santos on upright bass/backing vocals and Johnny Crash on drums. Their most recent EP Black Moonshine was released in fall 2018 through Batcave Records and this one sure is a banger!
Are you looking for a combination of stomping psychobilly and spicy Spanish accents? Well I have found the band for you! Voodoo Zombie is Chile’s first psychobilly band and is sure to inspire a resurgence of the genre from that part of the world. “Reviresco” was released on the Los Angeles-based record label Batcave Records. This album was recorded at Calavera Estudio and was mixed/mastered by Rene De La Muerte at Batcave Records. When you are a psychobilly band with both Dusty and Rene’s support you know you’re doing something right.
I first came across The Blackrats in September when I heard of their tour through Quebec and Ontario. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to catch a show this time around, but I did pick up their latest release After Dark and I became instantly hooked.
